The Cincinnati Bengals announced they signed quarterback A.J. McCarron to the practice squad, which was first reported by NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.
The former Bengals quarterback worked out for the team at Paycor Stadium.
With quarterback Joe Burrow not participating in practice Thursday and being limited Friday, the Bengals' options at quarterback have fluctuated this week. First, the New England Patriots signed Will Grier off the Cincinnati practice squad. The Bengals then signed Reid Sinnett back to the practice squad.
Jake Browning is currently the backup quarterback if Burrow's unable to play Monday against the Los Angeles Rams.
McCarron was drafted by the Bengals in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL draft and was with the team until he signed with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2018. The Alabama product then played two years with the Houston Texans. McCarron most recently played for the St. Louis Battlehawks of the XFL.

The Bengals have also hosted former Baltimore Ravens and Arizona Cardinals quarterback Trace McSorley for a workout.
